Aman is opening a luxury resort in the Maldives

Aman is well known for its ultraluxury resorts and hotels found in some of the world’s favorite cities, like Tokyo and Venice, Italy, as well as destinations as close as Utah and as far as Phuket, Thailand.

Now, Aman has planted its flag in the Maldives and is gearing up for an all-new island resort with an opening date to be announced.

Set to open on the Vavuu Atoll, the resort will offer 52 rooms and 16 branded residences crafted by Kerry Hill Architects, a firm long associated with Aman, and the team behind some of the brand’s most iconic properties, like Aman Kyoto.

Though details are sparse about the resort, at least for now, we do know that accommodations will vary in size, with the largest option being three-bedroom stand-alone pavilions. There will be a variety of restaurants, private dining locations and a beach club, as well.

Characteristic of the brand, Aman Maldives will offer a spa that spans over 8,500 feet and has two private Spa Houses, an Aman specialty that typically offers space for treatments plus private plunge pools, saunas or even hammams.

For those with pockets deep enough to consider investing in an Aman Residence in the Maldives, these properties will range from five to 10 bedrooms and be located on private islets with private beaches, an 82-foot swimming pool and a personal landing jetty.

Aman fanatics have been longing for a Maldivian property, Vlad Doronin, Aman CEO and chairman, said in a statement, adding that the tropical destination “has long been part of our growth strategy and reinforces the brand’s dedication to providing unique and transformative experiences in the world’s most exceptional locations.”

This new property is the latest addition to a strong pipeline that includes new hotels and resorts in Bangkok; Miami Beach, Florida; and Beverly Hills, California; as well as Mexico, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, Aman introduced the world to its new sister brand, Janu. Opening first in Tokyo, Janu is centered around community and the social elements of a hotel, whereas Aman is geared more toward inward reflection and finding peace and tranquility while visiting.

TPG had the chance to visit Janu Tokyo this summer, and if it’s an indication of what else is to come for the new brand from the Aman family, we can’t wait to see what the next properties will look like.
