Breeze Airways is adding a new pin and eight new routes to its map.
The carrier announced Tuesday a noteworthy expansion on the West Coast, introducing five routes to its newest airport: San Diego International Airport (SAN).
Service at SAN commences on April 30, with flights to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Service to Jacksonville, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; Cincinnati; and Pittsburgh will follow in the days thereafter.
San Diego will become Breeze’s fifth destination in California, after Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino and San Francisco.

In addition to the new San Diego flights, Breeze will start flying between Westchester County, New York, and Raleigh-Durham; Cincinnati and Hartford; and Charleston and Los Angeles.
You’ll find the full map of Breeze’s eight new routes below. There are details about the service schedule and launch dates at the bottom of the story.
As one of the two new U.S. airline startups (Avelo Airlines is the other), Breeze has been trying to build a network of nonstop routes to secondary cities that larger network carriers, such as American Airlines and United Airlines, don’t fly to.
With the new San Diego routes, Breeze will enjoy a monopoly on four of its five new flights, though it remains to be seen how profitable these flights will be. Frontier Airlines plans to fly from San Diego to Pittsburgh during the upcoming summer season, Cirium schedules show.

After all, it’s possible that San Diego’s largest carrier, Southwest Airlines, might’ve considered adding some (or all) of these destinations in the past but felt that these flights wouldn’t be profitable.
Of course, the winners in this announcement are flyers based in these cities who might enjoy this new nonstop service.
Introductory fares start at $59 each way, and the airline is also out with a promotional limited-time sale offering 35% off base fares for all round-trip travel.
That said, it’s worth noting that Breeze has been pretty aggressive about scrapping flights that aren’t profitable. So, if you do lock in one of these deals, be on the lookout for possible schedule changes in the coming months.
“San Diego is one of the U.S.’s most popular summer destinations with great food, beautiful beaches and popular family attractions. We’re thrilled to add service to San Diego, our fifth destination in California and 46th airport served nationally, airline president Tom Doxey said in a statement.
