An exclusive first look at the Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown
Sunny St. Petersburg, Florida — or St. Pete, as it’s called by many — has a fun and playful new hotel you can book with Marriott Bonvoy points. Here’s a first look at the Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown, a member of the brand that won TPG’s 2023 award for Best Affordable Hotel Brand.
Located on Central Avenue in a refreshed development called the Edge Collective near Tropicana Field, this new Moxy is right in the heart of the city’s action and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and lots of nightlife options.
“This is a one-of-a-kind lifestyle hotel that not only works within St. Pete’s local traditions and culture but also adds to the neighborhood,” said Nick Pantuliano, chief development officer and chief operations officer of PTM Partners (which worked on the property alongside DoveHill) in a statement.
Featuring 163 rooms and suites, guests can expect the compact but efficient and trendy rooms that the Moxy brand is known for. The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that shine plenty of light onto natural-toned rooms with leather headboards, wooden accents and green-tiled bathrooms. For even more space, book a suite or a room with a balcony for a private area to breathe in Florida’s salty air.
Throughout the hotel, guests will find design elements that reflect the energy and vibe of St. Pete, including Flordia-centric beach decor combined with a touch of midcentury modern flair. In the lobby, be sure to check out an Instagram-worthy mural by Tampa-based painter Ashley Cassens and a design-forward mirror by local artist Ted VanCleave.
You might also want to hang out in the indoor-outdoor lobby to catch live music, spend a few hours working in the chic space or grab a drink or snack, like tuna poke tacos, at Bar Moxy. Additionally, the lobby has a Rose’s Coffee Bar that serves various forms of caffeine, smoothies and pastries.
Uniquely, Moxy St. Pete also houses a podcast studio that will be available to reserve for free to guests and the public, alongside 1,000 square feet of meeting space. In the meeting facilities, you’ll find floors designed like shuffleboards, a tribute to the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, the world’s oldest and largest shuffleboard club.
The hotel has a rooftop pool, the first in the neighborhood, with fun cabanas, too. On the roof, you’ll also find Sip ‘n Dip, a bar with pool-friendly food like chips and guacamole and seafood towers.
Later this year, an outpost of Florida’s popular bar Sparrow will open on the roof as well. During the day, the space will offer up to 4,000 square feet of space to eat and drink, but when the sun goes down, the space will transform into a nightlife venue with Asian food and craft cocktails.

Throughout the Wurzak Hotel Group-managed property (which also manages The Dalmar in Fort Lauderdale), guests will feel the vibrancy and history of St. Pete reflected in the design by Storyn Studio for Architecture, from the brick facade to the charming interiors.
“The Moxy’s design mirrors the historic essence of St. Pete’s 1920 urban landscape, a reflection that is deeply significant to us as a local firm,” said Everald Colas of Storyn Studio for Architecture. “Our goal was to create a design that harmonizes with the community, captivating both residents and visitors.”
How to book
Rates at the Moxy St. Pete can be booked for as low as $132 or 42,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
